Examines the uses of GIS in law enforcement relating to how human behavior is
mapped and analyzed for strategic deployment purposes. Crime, calls for service, and demographic data will be
analyzed to illustrate the various GIS tools used by law enforcement analysts to address issues related to public
disorder. Discusses crime mapping and analysis concepts as well as policing philosophies. Students will use
ArcGIS to analyze crime series, conduct problem analysis, study crime trends, and address deployment issues as
they relate to law enforcement.
