COURSE OBJECTIVES
By completing this course the student will:
- Become familiar with the major classes of problems encountered by Military OR Analysts (with emphasis on the Department level of analysis)

WHO SHOULD ATTEND
This high level course is intended to provide or refresh the background of OR analysis and modeling for experts in various military/defense domains (such as combat, combat support, and combat service elements) and also to enhance the understanding of defense applications for experts in operations research. The course material is delivered at a level that provides the rationale and examples of high-level OR topics applied to military-focused analyses.

PC REQUIREMENTS
This course can be taken on either a Mac or a PC. Students will need to have an Internet connection and e-mail capabilities.
The class will be delivered via the webcasting software Elluminate Live. Accessing Ellunminate Live is fast and simple, but it is recommended that students prepare for that ahead of the first class, by following the following steps:
- Go to http://www.elluminate.com/support to download the free java software that is needed.
- Next, join the configuration room (linked on the support page) to do a final check and practice configuring the audio and adjusting the level.
- Once you register you will be provided with a class code within Elluminate.
The lecture slides will be deposited on Blackboard, a Learning Management System.

INSTRUCTOR
Dr. Andrew G. Loerch, (Col. Ret) is Associate Professor in the Systems Engineering and Operations Research at George Mason University, Fairfax, Virginia. Dr. Loerch directs the military operations research master’s graduate program. As a U.S. Army-trained operations research analyst, Dr. Loerch served as a division chief at the Center for Army Analysis, Fort Belvoir, Virginia. He is a past president of the Military Operations Research Society (MORS). Dr. Loerch is coeditor (with Larry Rainey) of the book Methods of Military Operational Analysis, Military Operations Research Society, 2008.

If you attend all three sessions, we will award you a George Mason University Certificate of Participation and 1.0 CEUs, and we will maintain a permanent non-credit record of your participation in this program.
